<![CDATA[Cause of leap year bug]]>"SCEA is looking into widespread reports tonight of PlayStation Network login errors causing many left unable to play games, and even lose trophies, on certain PlayStation 3 consoles."

The reason this is happening is because the system clock on old models is trying to switch to leap year 02/29/2010. This than corrupts files on the HDD when the OS switches to 12/31/1999 on default as the OS does not have 02/29/2010 as a viable date to switch to. The only way to get past this is to wait until March 2nd before you turn your PS3 back on or switch the date manually past 02/29/2010.

If you do keep your machine off March 1st, the only thing you will have to do is reset your clock from March 1st to March 2nd when the 2nd comes around.

I must reiterate that it is very important that you keep your fat PS3s off the entire day on March 1st, especially if you ran out of time switching the date of the system clock to March 1st on Feb 28th.

go to set date via internet try that it worked for me. allthough i have an american ps3 they are all screwed up lol.

IDK, im just worried about buying a new PS3, is this the reason why my ps3 turns on but just a black screen?
