Ventrilo Client Setup Guide

I know a few people in the forum were asking how to set up Vent. This is an in-depth tutorial on how to do it. I hope this will help get more people on our Vent server. Now there's no reason why everyone isn't on here chatting with us! Go do it!

Step 1: Download Ventrilo. Go to the Ventrilo website http://www.ventrilo.com/ and click on the Download link on the left side of the page.

Step 2: Click on the client you want to download. Windows i386 is most likely the one you want. (Unless you have 64-bit OS, in which case you will need the x64 version.)

Step 3: Click "I Agree."

Step 4: Save the install file to your Desktop, or somewhere you can find it easily.

Step 5: Double-click on the file you just downloaded.

Step 6: Install Ventrilo. Click Next on each of the prompts and install the program.

Step 7: Run Ventrilo from the icon that is placed on your Desktop.

Step 8: Click "No".

Step 9: Here you are going to pick your username. Click the arrow next to the User Name drop-down menu.

Step 10: Click "New".

Step 11: Enter the Name you use on the forums. This will be the easiest way to identify you in the Vent server. Then click "Ok".

Step 12: Click "Ok".

Step 13: Now we are going to enter the Server information. Click the arrow next to the Server drop-down menu.

Step 14: Click "New".

Step 15: Enter SinS. in the box. (You can enter whatever you want here, but using SinS. will be the easiest.)

Step 16: Enter the server information. (For this tutorial we will use my personal server.)

Hostname or IP: vent.sinfulshadows.com
Port number: 3880

NOTE: It is very important that you change the port number from what it has in the box to 3880. It will not connect to the server if you do not do this.

Click "Ok" when you are done entering the information.

Step 17: If everything was entered correctly you should see "Server is available." in the box. Click "Connect".

There we go! Hope to see you in Vent sometime.

Log back in without your password and give me another one. Without spaces.
