It's a great program to start out learning. I started on the first generation of it.

Got a cracked version from a friend…
Got mine free from Sony
I've got mine from school… Graduated 4 years ago, never returned the 100€ book or the Photoshop Elements 5 And DreamWeaver discs worth a few bucks.. Mouhahahaha
And now I've got a cracked Elements 8.0 and CS4, cracked Bryce 3D and Daz Studio 3.
Students get a lot of free stuff.
We got Auto CAD 2010 for free. £1,000 on Amazon.co.uk
