Guild wars PvP (my thoughts)

Brief outline of pvp types
–----------------------------------Ther'es been alot of PvP guild wars 2 videos out, from gamescon. All of them showing off the individual classes and how they fair in player battles. Thing is, all of these have only been battleground/scenario style plays...there was hardly anthing pertaining to 'world pvp' only some description of what it might be like. One of the devs mentioned that it would be server vs server and that the consistent victors would be rewarded with server bonuses for all.
To be perfectly honest this doesn't sound confidence inspiring...they seem to be very vague and I get the feeling World PvP will the be the generic run of the mill Running around randomly PK'in everyone without definable purpose. What I would hope to see is, command of huge Battlefield objectives and Fort gameplay (much like the pvp in warhammer online) whereby all sides fight over the control of land, capturing castles and outposts. (that would be fun!)

Since GW2 isn't based on the traditional mmo lock on targeting system, but rather free action movement/twitch gameplay it'l probably end up playing like a third person shooter (GOW anyone?) but I welcome the change since this way more skill will be required.PvP Classes

After watching random vids i Can safely say..casters are going to own!
(ashame since i'm used to playing melee, guess its time for a change!)I'd rather not conform to the hype and risk being letdown...I'll just wait for the beta and experience the game for myself...but I really do hope it meets my expectations.

- There are three teams; Blue, Red and Green
- The castle is in the centre of the map. To the north of the castle, but not visible on the released screenshot, is the Red team's base
- In order to see the darkened areas on the map, you must explore those areas
- Each team has access to a waypoint to their home base and to other significant areas of the map when you take control of them. For example the keep and castle should provide a waypoint once captured
- Supplies are used to make siege weapons. Helping out the NPCs at the Lumber and Mine camps will provide your team with these supplies
- There are small NPC towns located on the map. Helping them will enable them to aid your team. For example they will attack the enemy keeps, mines etc.
After stumbling upon this info, it made me alot happier about the possibilities of GW2 pvp outcome.
If they can get the end game RvR to the right scale and implement balanced and fun mechanics. they will shift alot of units!Note: (Nothing official has been announced and all of this stuff is pure leaked info and speculation)

ALSO: Character Progression and Personal Rewards
As WvW is unstructured, your character progression plays a significant role. If you choose to do so, you can level your character to the max level solely through WvW. You can unlock abilities, gain skills, increase your power curve and obtain loot items from other players through random drops. - TenTonHammer
Higher level players may dominate lower level players in solo encounters. - IncGamersThis is great news... since i primarily wanted to play PvP...i can do all that story and pve stuff in more casual tone.

I always felt the flying, added an unbalanced element to the pvp..in aion…..its like suddenly going...from 3d to 4d......Flying for melee classes was a fucking pain in the ass.
