The irony in the fact your Xbox faceplate says "Your time is limited".

buddy buddy buddy…please listen the towel trick is a fucking jedi mind trick. covering your xbox with a towel just promotes further overheating. RROD = overheating simple as that.

        don't do that.

        RROD reasons:

        -bad firmware/software update
-Damaged Components most likely GPU due to overheating (most cases)

Fixes: warranty or DIY scrubbing the chips new cooling solution and re applying thermal paste. ( if its not perma dmgd otherwise warranty is only option)

I've had RROD before and it was on the earlier xbox release, zephyr (lasted me 3 years) motherboard model.I think All older models had worse cooling solutions and power hungry chip design therefore were more susceptible to dying.

If not warranty buy a 1st or 2nd hand newer xbox model least likely to RROD.

I Keep little plastic cubes under my xbox at each corner (horizontal) to allow good amount of ventillation….cleaning the dust regularly, but most of all i keep it in the coolest room house (if at home) my flat is usually cool with good airflow anyway.
I suspect you guys in USA tend to have hotter daytime temps and humidy which is a bummer.

Its good if it still works i love my 360!...but in all honesty if my box dies again i will switch to a ps3 ..(fingers crossed tho my 2nd 2008 xbox is still running smoothly)

          Facts:

My Xbox red rings at least 3 times a week.
Toweling it makes the Xbox hot and melts the solder back into position.
It works every time I do it.
If it doesn't work in the future I will take it apart.

          I know what I'm doing. 😄

How crap is the reliability with the Xbox if you have to do this all the time to prevent "RROD". This shows that there is a huge problem and micro$oft should sort it out instead of money grabbing off you poor Xbox users.

Why would you buy/make something that needs mollycoddling all the time.

            I mean come on.

"I have it on blocks to keep it cool!" It isn't your job to keep it cool, the Xbox should keep it's self cool.

"I make it overheat to melt the paste back in place" the paste should stay where it is if it was put on properly.

"My Xbox is noisy, but I just turn up the volume" the fact that it is noisy is there is a huge fault with cooling, cheap fans and poor build, you need something like this to be quiet, TV's are quiet, DVD players are quiet, Blu-Ray players are quiet, everything is quiet that you put in a living room, that's the point!

Rant over, 2.30 in the morning, going to bed….

I'd rather just buy a new Xbox. 😄

I have a PS2…so I already have the best PS games.
