I got my Linksys WRT54G2 like 2 years ago. Best wireless router I've had.

Probably going to get a Wireless-N when I get my Macbook Pro…but they're so damn expensive. (The router and the Macbook)

I bought a Wireless G router. Its very good, though i havent had any problems yet. I have a a WRT54G but it got tooo complicated and it fucked up on me, kept disconnecting.

I'll soon get a new router myself 🙂
The current one is at 8mbps, but the new one will be on 20-25 mbps

            Yes it does!

I can't get faster speed on the internet from the company that the current router is from!
When we changed router last time. The mbps dropped a lot and I got NAT type 2/3

To say whats the difference between a modem and a router would like be saying hwats the difference between a fork and a spoon!!

Their is an extreme difference between them, you'd have to be a retard to not know which is which even if your not computer literate!

One distributes information over a network wired or wireless, and the other receives converts and sends information over the internet, but also allows a single computer connection, ones with multiple computer connections is still a modem but has routing capabilities.

I can see where the confusion started but I think Bronco was being pedantic because he knows more about this stuff, which is rightly due'd to him 😄

Exactly. A modem interprets the data flow and allows your computer to connect to the internet. A router "routes" the signal to multiple locations and allows the data flow to be split multiple times and interpreted separately.

You need both…that's pretty much it. 😄
