What we can believe right now is that a moderator called Cshesh420 from PSX-Scene.com among others have been getting a ability to get things for free etc on the PSStore through the firmware called Rebug, which were meant to only be for developers. He and other people have got the access to lots of things they're not supposed to get. And there have to be something really important that have happened because Sony closed the servers during the holiday.
Some might believe that information about creditcards have been leaked too, but Csesh said that they didn't got that info through Rebug!Csesh420's own words:

just heard 77 million acounts on PSN have had thier details stolen…...
Been talking with some mates, one said they cnt use them unless they know the security code number at the back.
