      if u have ps2 games u like playing and ur ps2 dies for some reason a ps3 can play them unlike a 40gb

                go to your U.S. account go to the psn store and go to disc based add-ons. scroll through and you will find the ps2 player thingy(yes that is the technical term!)it is free you don't even have to pay:D

                        yea cause when i download ps2 system data it still says unsupported and ps3 cant run ps2

                              an emulator makes it so you can play different console games on different gaming platforms. at one point i had every nes snes sega and n64 game ever made, for my pc, and a emulator to run them all. "sighs ohh those were the days"
