Are you Retarted, you spend atlest £1000 a year on Sony products, Peripherals and games.
It's a huge difference between buying a game and paying for playing it

How about the games that you pay £40+ for which end up being not even worth £5? As long as the games are worth the subscription I see no harm.
Having said that, I'm not even getting it…....:o

I think if you think the games good why not pay money to play it?
And if the games worth it i dont se any problems its like paying for PSN+ wich sucks i bought and hoped for good games not just minis and other suckie games.
Nate and everyone else who thinks its good pay for it and play it with a smile on your face to you others you can still by games for overprices -
I don't see why playing games like world of warcraft etc where you have to pay a lot
But I ain't a PC-gamer, so how should I know?

Its because MMO's are sustained to be around for a good few years, unlike Call Of Duty games that are every year and so. But the developer still needs to make money, so people pay and they keep support going.
It will be intresting to see how DC fares on the console side though.

i played the beta and the nature class was OP and thier was alot of lag so hopefully they fixed that issue.

One of the many advantages of a Beta. Helps iron out issues like these.
Note: Despite knowing how to use HTML, I seem to have double posted. My bad.

Completely different.
I pay £120 a year for internet, my online gaming is covered in that.

Agreed.

@SDR:
£90 a year = No!
well £90 a year, works up about to £7.50 PCM which is less than most pc mmo sub rates. I think these days i personally am opting toward MMO gaming myself.
I reckon mmo gaming on the console is a relatively unexplored area, but will probably take off as time goes on. So many people end up buying a new game every month that costs them around £40 per console game…compared to £7-12 a month for an mmo defo a cheaper option for gamers. But thats not all i think alot of people are very interestd in mmo type games on the console market and are willing to pay if the quality is there, just look at Phantasy Star Online that franchise did pretty well (console mmo back in the day).MMO's are just beginning to take their stride they will defo get more and more popular as the future comes...(both pc and console)
And its true not all games are worth of paying a £40 lump sum. Half of them are just hyped up and deviantly marketed. (thats one reason piracy has run amok) MMO genre has always tried to aim toward producing high quality gaming at reasonable price structuring.
(P.S THIS IS NOT FANBOY ARGUEMENT ...i still like certain SP game franchises...im just sayyyyyyyyyyyyyyin...hell im not really a fanboy of anything)

Nate and everyone else who thinks its good pay for it and play it with a smile on your face to you others you can still by games for overpricesExactly Kjellgren, most games people buy and barely end up playing thats £40 out the window which is 4 months of playing DCUO.
DCUO is a game that will last at a minimum 30 days but could last up to 10 Years,t hats the thing with this game, COD charges you £40 every year for an upgrade basically (some are not even upgrades) with DCUO you only pay to play it when you want to and updates will come, and there will Always be something to do.

Exactly, you have never played an MMO it seems, they are more addictive then and COD because everyone is on the same world, theres too much to do, and its not that expensive lke I said earlier some people send thousands a year on PlayStation and hardly even play the games ect..

Yes your online gaming does pay for that, but DCUO isnt any normal game its an MMORPG, I could understand your point if say they started charging £10 a month for COD but they are not.
MMO's take more work then most games, they are in development for a minimum of like 5 years, then they run lots of servers to handle different things in the game, look at how many people play it, they have to store all that information and it takes a lot of work, not to mention it needs constant monitoring ect.
I used to think like you when I was ignorant and didn't know anything, I played Lineage 2 on a private server, then I became a developer and worked on the MMO and helped manage it, and I'll tell you now, they deserve the £10 a month they get for what they created and how they look after it.
Don't let your Ignorance and Nativity get in the way of a great game, and great Experience.
